Middle Eastern Studies Minor

As a minor in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Central Missouri, you’ll study major social, religious and political events and how they’ve shaped the hot-button issues affecting the region. From the origins of Christianity, Islam and Judaism to the Syrian Civil War and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, our program gives you the opportunity to expand and enhance your understanding of the Middle East’s history and future trajectory.

  • Nance Middle East Collection: Satisfy a research interest specific to the Middle East with the help of the Nance Middle East Collection. One of five notable collections housed in UCM’s McClure Archives, this collection of Middle Eastern artifacts and art is one of the nation’s most extensive.
  • Study abroad: Take advantage of first-hand study abroad opportunities under the guidance of UCM professors. UCM offers a 2.5-week program in Jordan and Israel, and our students can enroll in a four-week program in Tunisia to learn more about ongoing transitions in Africa. We also offer a Divided Cities program focused on topics including the political, religious and cultural divides in Jerusalem, Berlin and Kansas City.
