What you will study
Undergraduate Accounting minors take courses that teach vital information about the
business field. This includes the tools and framework to understand financial statements,
accounting reports and tax information. These skills set you apart from other job
candidates who don’t have the same background in business.
On top of that, you’ll gain a better understanding of how your own personal finances
work, which prepares you for financial stability and future success.
UCM's Accounting minor includes the following courses:
- Foundations of Financial Reporting
- Principles of Managerial Accounting
- Intermediate Financial Accounting I, II and III
- Tax I
- Advanced Accounting
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration students can earn the minor in Accounting
in as few as 15 credit hours due to course overlap.
Excellence in Accounting
- The School of Accountancy, including the Accounting minor, at the University of Central
Missouri is accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of

- UCM’s School of Accountancy and Accounting program has a second, specialized AACSB
accreditation — 1 of only 190 in the world. This means we meet the highest standards
for curriculum excellence, learning outcomes and faculty qualifications.
- All Accounting program faculty are licensed professionals in their fields, holding
titles such as CPA, CMA and attorney.
