Located on the first floor of the JCK Library, the Learning Commons is a comfortable and collaborative student workspace. You can study on your own or meet with a tutor.
Tutoring Services
Tutoring at UCM is available for many UCM courses—and is available at no cost! Tutoring is available by appointment using our scheduling app, Penji. We almost always have someone here to help with mathematics, from Introductory Mathematics to Linear Algebra. Check out Penji for hours by course.
Are we missing a course you need or does the scheduled time not work for you? Let us know.
Writing Center
Need help with a paper for class? Not sure where to begin? Start by coming into the UCM Writing Center. It’s free and available to all UCM students at any stage of the writing process. Walk in visits are always welcome, but appointments are encouraged--especially near midterms and finals.
Online Writing Center
If you live off campus or your schedule doesn’t allow you to visit the Writing Center during center hours, try our Online Writing Lab (OWL). OWL allows you to submit your paper at any time and receive feedback within 48 business hours. Please note, we try our best to get back to you over the weekends, but sometimes we have a high inflow of requests. If you submit a paper on a Friday or Saturday, it may not get back to you until Monday!
Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) offers weekly study groups for difficult courses. Sessions are led by trained students who have already passed the course. SI Leaders attend class and work with faculty to make the SI sessions specific to the faculty member’s teaching style.
SI is offered two to three times a week at a set time. Check the class schedule or your instructor for specific days and times.
