Our Vision
The Vision of First-Year Experience is to innovate and maintain student-centered programs and processes that prepare first-time freshmen, transfer, and new international students for success. First-Year Experience envisions a UCM experience in which all first-year students are supported academically, professionally, socially, and personally.

CENTRAL SUMMER ACADEMY
Central Summer Academy is a summer bridge program that is designed for incoming UCM students to get a head start on college by taking foundational courses and living on campus.
The Central Summer Academy is Free. However spots are limited and acceptance is not guaranteed.
FYE ABROAD
FYE Abroad is a 1- credit hour faculty-led service learning trip to Treasure Beach, Jamaica. Students particpating in this experientail learning opporunity will be immersed in Jamaican culture and will develop thier leadersship skills in a cross-cultural global environment that is focused on community tourism.
FYE Abroad is open to all first-year students (freshman or transfer). Priotirty will be given to Title III (First-Gen, Pell-eligible , or historically underrepresented) and students that have never travelled abroad.

KICKOFF
UCM Kickoff is a program designed to ease the transition for new UCM students. During the program students will become acquainted with campus and attend sessions to increase their success at UCM, all while creating life-long friendships. Students participating in the program prior to the fall semester will have the opportunity to beat the move-in rush, learn about campus services and meet with the faculty of your department.
