The following comments are from students who have participated in CBI interships
Computer Information Systems
"I started working for Carlyle while I was taking a Client Server course and I already had SQL language course which is used for databases. These classes gave me the opportunity to learn the necessary skills needed, for example, PL/SQL the language for Oracle database. The concepts such as client-server computing, n-tier structure, thin clients, and thick clients were all familiar to me when I started my internship."
"I didn’t realize how little I really knew about the real world or work, compared to school. I gained skills in my classes, such as basic computer skills and general business knowledge. Also, presentation skills were very important.
"My access data base class, and human resource management class were the two classes I can say helped me the most for my preparation for the job."
"I don’t think that I could have done this internship if I had not gone to college and gotten the tools needed to do a good job. I constantly found myself using techniques that I learned in the class room and applying them in everyday situations."
"The courses I took at Central where extremely helpful when dealing with the everyday office. I am grateful I know how to run programs such as Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint because during the time I have been here I have had to help out, or even make spreadsheets."
