UCM's Longtime Athletics Leader Jerry Hughes Passes Away

Jerry Hughes, who dedicated more than 40 years to laying the foundation for successes that included regional and national athletics championships, improved sports playing facilities, and the recruitment of thousands of outstanding student-athletes at the University of Central Missouri, passed away late Saturday, Jan. 21, after a brief illness. Arrangements have not yet been announced.

Bestselling Author, UCM Women's Basketball Legend Millie Barnes Share an Inspirational Evening with Campus Audience Oct. 11

University of Central Missouri women’s basketball coaching legend Millie Barnes is returning to campus Oct. 11 to be part of a free public presentation featuring New York Times bestselling author Andrew Maraniss. His new book, “Inaugural Ballers: The True Story of the First U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team,” addresses a subject that was close to Barnes during her professional career with the UCM Jennies -- a topic that contributes to the author’s coming to campus and his remarks planned for 7 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.

Get the Red Out Celebration Planned Sept. 2, Vendors Can Still Register

A fun-filled event that will bring University of Central Missouri students and employees together with families from across the community, the 2021 Get the Red Out street fair is planned for 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. While Get the Red Out was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, it is back for the 16th year.
