WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri will offer a firsthand look at
the variety of services and venues available to the public at the UCM Event Showcase,
planned for 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in the ballroom of the Elliott Student
Union, 511 S. Holden St.
Visitor parking is available at the corner of Clark and Holden streets.
The event will provide detailed information on one of the largest public event venues
in the community and the services provided by the university’s Office of Meetings
and Conference Services, Sodexo, and a variety of retail vendors.
“If you aren't part of the UCM community, you may not be aware of all of the amazing
venues, services, and catering options that are available on campus, here in Johnson
County,” said Kim Nicas, assistant director of the Elliott Student Union. “We hope
to change that. The goal is to have something for everyone, no matter what your event
size or budget."
Nicas noted that the Elliott Student Union offers a variety of meeting rooms, including
the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom, and full catering services provided by Sodexo.
Event coordinators with Meetings and Conferences Services provide assistance in planning
and setup.
The university’s Alumni Memorial Chapel also is available for weddings, with the adjacent
Elliott Union available for wedding receptions. The Union also hosts birthday and
retirement parties and proms.
The Union Bowling Center, a full-service, state-of-the-art bowling alley, is open
to the public and available for organized events and partnerships with schools and
organizations in fundraising and rewards programs. Retail food establishments include
Steak ‘N Shake, Chick Fil A, Taco Bell, and the Sub Connection. In addition to the
Elliott Student Union, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center also provides public
venues on a limited basis.
