WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri will honor its spring and summer
2018 graduates during commencement exercises Friday and Saturday, May 4-5 in the Multipurpose
Building. A combined 2,166 undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to walk
in these events.
UCM President Charles Ambrose will present the commencement remarks in each of the
ceremonies, all of which are open to the public. Among the participants are 1,158
spring and 297 summer undergraduates who have met their degree requirements, and 542
spring and 169 students who are candidates for graduate degrees.
Spring 2018 Commencement festivities begin with the graduate ceremony for students
in the College of Health, Science, and Technology at 2:30 p.m. Friday followed by
the CHST undergraduate ceremony at 6 p.m.
Saturday commencement exercises get underway at 9 a.m. with the graduate and undergraduate
ceremony for new graduates of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
and for students who are obtaining General Studies degrees. The College of Education’s
ceremony, which also includes the seventh THRIVE class, begins at noon, and the graduation
ceremony for graduate and undergraduate degree candidates in the Harmon College of
Business and Professional Studies is set for 3 p.m.
Other commencement weekend activities on Friday include the U.S. Army ROTC Commissioning
Ceremony at 9 a.m. in Hendricks Hall; Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony at 3:30
p.m. in Hendricks Hall; and the Honors College Reception, 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Elliott
Student Union 237A-B. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Honors College Reception
will take place in Elliott Student Union 237A-B. An exhibition of Honors projects
also will be available on Friday and Saturday at the same location as the Honors College
receptions.
