Students at Summit Technology Academy are seeking the public’s help through a recently
launched crowdfunding campaign designed to support a new project partnering the local
students with a school in Kenya, the University of Central Missouri and a global technology
company.
Donations to the crowdfunding site will pay for technology necessary for videoconferencing
in Kenya as well as additional broadband capability at the Kenya school. To donate,
visit gofundme.com/f/kenmo.
Students from Summit Technology Academy and their partner school, Makueni Innovation
Campus, have participated in several videoconferences along with John Musau, founder
and CEO of Digloso, an international technology company. The University of Central
Missouri is involved in the partnership, offering support and resources.
Summit Technology Academy, operated by the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, and the
University of Central Missouri’s Lee’s Summit campus are both located within the Missouri
Innovation Campus.
KenMo, which launched during September, will initially include pilot competitions,
workshops and events designed to allow students, educators, companies, entrepreneurs
and sponsors to problem-solve in a collaborative environment.
