What is SafeAssign?

SafeAssign is an online plagiarism report application that is built into Blackboard.  If your instructor requires that you submit an assignment using SafeAssign they will have to set that up in the assignment submission area.  If your instructor has enabled SafeAssign for your paper you will be able to view a plagiarism report by accessing that in the Bb Grade Center.

How do I view my grades and grading feedback in Blackboard?

  1. Login to Blackboard and click on the Grade tab in the Bb Navigation menu
  2. You will see a list of your current courses and the assignments listed under each course.
  3. On the right-hand side you will see the point value of each assignment.
  4. To view grading feedback, click on the assignment
  5. A window for that course will open
  6. Anywhere that you see a comment bubble means that your instructor has left you feedback on the assignment.  Simply click on the comment bubble to see the feedback
  7. If your instructor has attached a rubric you can click on “view rubric” to see the grading details.
  8. When using a rubric your instructor will assign a point value to each row and may provide additional comments or feedback on the rubric.  It’s a good idea to read all comments your instructor has left for you on the grading rubric.  These can be very beneficial for future assignments.
  9. Your instructor may leave comments on your assignment submission.  To view your assignment submission, click on the assignment link in the grade center.  You will see what you submitted and be able to view comments from your instructor.  If your instructor has provided a grading rubric you can view that rubric from this area as well.

Why can't I view my instructor's Panopto video?

If you try to view a Panopto video that your instructor has embedded in your course and you can't play it there are likely two reasons for this:

  • Your instructor may be editing the video at the time you are trying to view
  • The permission settings are not correct for the video.  Simply click on "Request Permission to View" and an auto-generated email will be sent to your instructor.  Your instructor can then grant you permissions for this video until the appropriate permissions are set at the course level.
