Students that plan to use VA Educational Benefits:
Need to apply for benefits on va.gov. For questions about eligibility contact the VA at 1-888-442-4551
Students plan on using Military Tuition Assistance (TA):
Need to create accounts to the applicable program and reach out to your Education Service Officer (ESO) at your units.
Once you have completed your VA education benefits application, the VA will send a Certificate of Eligibility which is a decision letter that will include explanation of benefits. This needs to be submitted to vets@ucmo.edu.
Navigating your benefits can be confusing, that is why we highly recommend scheduling a meeting with our office so we can go over all your questions and concerns and explain how your benefits will work.
or contact us at 660-543-8776 or at vets@ucmo.edu
It is very important that students pay attention to deadlines when it comes to funding. Each funding program has different deadlines.
Students that are using VA benefits need to have the Certification Request Form submitted no later than the second week of classes. This ensures that your payments will be timely.
State Tuition Assistance (STA): Must be submitted prior to the start of courses starting. Example: Courses start Monday, January 9th, STA must be submitted by Sunday, January 8th.
Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA): Funding requests must be submitted in the applicable systems no later than 7 days prior to the start of the term.
Students that would like to use VA education benefits and Military Tuition Assistance must complete this form each semester. If this form is not submitted, benefits will not be processed and the Military Tuition Package and Active Military Tuition Rate (if applicable) discounts will not be applied. Submitting in advance is encouraged.
Students using VA educational benefits (Chapter 33, 30, 31, 1606, or 35) or Military Tuition Assistance (Federal Tuition Assistance and State Tuition Assistance) will receive this package each semester they use these benefits:
Veterans that have exhausted VA educational benefits (Chapter 33, 30, 31, 1606, or 35) while attending UCM will continue to receive the Military Tuition Package Extension.

At UCM we provide in-state rates for all service members (active duty, guard, and reserves), veterans, and dependents (spouses and children). This includes those that may not be using VA education benefits and no matter where the service member is serving.

Student accounts are created after application and admission to University of Central Missouri.
Upon admittance to UCM, students will receive an email in their personal account that includes their Banner ID ( also called a 7#) and their Network ID (NID). Upon admission and issuance of an NID, students will be able to log into MyCentral, the university portal.
Once a student is enrolled in classes, they will be notified in their personal email account of their UCM email address along with instructions about how to access it. It’s important for students to use their UCM email address as all future correspondence will be sent to it.
Student accounts will receive a Network ID (NID), Email (Google Workspace), MyCentral, Blackboard Learn, and Office365.
Domestic student email accounts are deleted after three semesters of non-enrollment. International student email accounts are deleted after five years of non-enrollment.
