Workshop Assists Service Members, Veterans, Reservists and Their Spouses

Return With Purpose, a free workshop that will help military personnel and veterans identify barriers in order to make a smooth transition from active duty to civilian life, is planned for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the University of Central Missouri. Registration is now being accepted for the one-day session, which takes place in Room 235 of the Elliott Student Union.

UCM Alumna Cynthia Johnson Named Keynote Speaker for 2016 UCM Freedom Scholarship Dinner

Kansas City educator and nationally recognized speaker and consultant Cynthia “Mama J” Johnson will be the keynote speaker for the University of Central Missouri’s annual Freedom Scholarship Dinner, planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, in the Elliott Student Union ballroom. The event is the highlight of the university’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, “Equality and Education Still Matter.”

UCM Alumni Foundation Funds New RedMan Suit for Police Academy

The Central Missouri Policy Academy at the University of Central Missouri obtained critical new equipment this semester for safer student training of defensive tactics. A UCM Alumni Foundation Opportunity Grant funded the purchase of a full instructor’s RedMan Suit and 24 padded training batons. Unrestricted gifts from donors made the grant possible.
