Prospective Online Student (Undergraduate & Graduate) Information and Requirements

 

The University of Central Missouri is a highly accredited university that is recognized across the world for academic excellence. We are one of the most affordable universities in the USA. UCM is home to more than 3,427 international students from 55 countries. We have the academic support services and student support resources in place to help you every step of the way—from applying to enrolling to settling into your new life at UCM.

The international admissions process varies depending on your student type and whether you are pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree. In general, students pursuing a bachelor’s degree are classified as undergraduate. Below you will find admissions requirements explained for your student type.

Application Deadlines

Apply for admission and submit required supporting materials as early as possible. The deadlines for admission are:

  • Fall – July 1
  • Spring – November 1
  • Summer – April 1

 

Online Application

This fee is $30.00 USD and non-refundable.

 

Demonstration of English Proficiency

UCM accepts the following English Proficiency test scores:

1. Undergraduate:

 TOEFL iBT - Score of 61  (We accept home-based)

IELTS  Academic - Score of 5.5 (We accept home-based)

UCM English Test  - UCM's English Proficiency Test assesses reading, writing, listening and speaking skills with a focus on vocabulary and grammar subskills. This test is used for initial admission to UCM. If you are interested in taking the UCM English Proficiency Test please email iep@ucmo.edu.

Duolingo - Score of 95

Cambridge C1/B2 exam score of 162

Oxford ELLT - Score of 6

 International Baccalaureate English A or B   English A (SL or HL): 5+
   English B (HL): 5+
   English B (SL): 6+
 Cambridge C1/B2  Minimum of 162
 English Curriculum High School Graduate  School with WASC accreditation 

 

2. Graduate:

 TOEFL iBT - Score of 79  (We accept home-based)

IELTS  Academic - Score of 6.0 (We accept home-based)

Duolingo - Score of 120

Oxford ELLT - Score of 7

 

Waiving English Proficiency Requirements:

  • Attended at least two years at a high school in the United States
  • Earned 24 credit hours at a regionally accredited university in the United States
  • Graduated from a secondary school accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
  • IB English A (SL) or (HL) with a score of 5* 
  • IB English B (HL) with a score of 5*
  • IB English B (SL) with a score of 6*

*IB predicted scores are accepted if they are sent directly from your school to intladmit@ucmo.edu

If you are from one of the countries below, you will receive a waiver of proof of English Proficiency:

American Samoa, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Gambia, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, The Pacific Islands of Palau, the Philippines, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Transcripts

Before submitting an application for admission, review the country specific requirements for admission to UCM.

All undergraduate/graduate students are required to upload unofficial transcripts to their student portal (created upon application submission) and submit official transcripts to our office. These transcripts will be used for advisement purposes.
