UCM Traditions

Family Day - September

Family Day is hosted every year in September and gives students a chance to show their families what life is like as a college student. The day is full of events to keep families entertained including family bowling, a BBQ, UCM football game, talent show and more.

Big Pink - October

Big Pink is a volleyball tournament played with a four-foot wide, hot pink ball to raise money for breast cancer research. This volunteer project is held every October and open to all UCM students, faculty, staff and the Warrensburg community.

Homecoming -October

Homecoming is the largest campus and community celebration of the year. This annual event is in October, and UCM alumni come to back Warrensburg to visit their alma mater. It's also a great time for the UCM community to unite for a variety of fun activities. Student organizations compete to win the spirit window competition, cheer competition, donation creation and float building. Other activities include a community service project, pep rally, parade and football game.

Yeater Haunted Tours- October

Yeater Haunted Tours is one of the most popular Halloween traditions at UCM. Open to the entire campus and community, tours of the "haunted" Yeater Hall are given and tell the stories of "ghostly activity" at Yeater. It is hosted by Todd and Yeater Hall Councils and collects money and canned goods for a good cause.

Operation Christmas Child - December

Operation Christmas Child is a charity event hosted each year by the United Student Housing Association. During the event, Christmas gifts are packaged and wrapped to be donated to families in need. This gives students an opportunity to donate goods and their time to help the community.

Fun Before Finals - December and May

Each semester, the student group Spotlight organizes a variety of activities before finals week to provide some fun to de-stress students before final exams.

Moonlight Breakfast - December

Moonlight Breakfast is held every December during finals week and features a late-night breakfast at Ellis Dining Center. UCM administrators volunteer to serve the late-night breakfast to students to give them a little push to study longer.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - January

At UCM, this day off is a day on for giving back. Each January, UCM has a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration that includes a service day, community service awards, Freedom Scholarship Dinner, community blood drive and more.

Sustainability Teach-in - February

Every February, UCM hosts a one-day conference educating the importance of sustainability and the impact every person can have. UCM faculty, along with experts in the field and industry leaders, offer presentations on a wide array of subjects related to environmental sustainability.

Earth Week - April

Each year, UCM celebrates Earth Day with a week of events that are open to the entire UCM and Warrensburg community. The week features unique events like the Haute Trash Fashion Show and the Green Car Show and all events aim to inspire participants to adopt a greener lifestyle.

Alternative Spring Break - March

Every year the student group, Breakers, travels to a different state to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity International during spring break. While there, students volunteer their time to build and rehabilitate houses that are sold to families at no profit and financed with no-interest loans.

Greek Week -April

Greek Week is a week of fun activities and community service projects that involve the entire Greek community. It is the one time of year that devotes a whole week to Greeks. From Opening Ceremonies, to the Step Show, to the Kid Carnival, there are a ton of opportunities for Greeks to hang out and serve the community together!
